Placement Program Release Paths
The UDC county-jail Inmate Placement Program is a legal-custody arrangement, not a separate public jail. Utah places some state prisoners in participating county facilities. Sevier County participates, which matters because it also serves many sentenced Piute County jail cases. Two people can share the same building while one remains in county custody and the other serves a UDC prison sentence. Their release routes and records are not interchangeable.
UDC says almost all state prisoners, including most people in county contract beds, move through Utah State Correctional Facility for release or parole processing. A rare county-site release is communicated to the affected person or family. Leaving Sevier for USCF is therefore a transfer within state custody. Community parole, sentence expiration, movement to a community correctional center, and final discharge are different events and must be labeled by the UDC or Board record that supports them.

Confirm Placement Program Release
Start with the UDC Offender Search, which covers people currently incarcerated or currently supervised on parole or felony probation. Use the UDC number when known. A name search requires at least one letter of the first and last names. Compare date of birth, legal status, offense, sentencing court, case, and facility placement rather than selecting a namesake.

- Read the legal status and the agency's parole or expiration date label.
- Search the Board's published hearing and decision records for the latest order.
- Check for rescission, another hold, or a later movement before calling the date final.
- Ask UDC for the public parole, termination, expiration, or discharge record when the locator is silent.

Placement Program Release Records
UDC's public-information materials and policy AG47 provide the state record path. Public offender information can include legal status, UDC number, facility placement, offense and sentence data, Board hearing date, parole or expiration date, commitment, sentencing court and case, discharge date, and a prison photograph. The exact fields on a live search result may be narrower. Describe missing items as requestable public information rather than promised screen fields.
For a defined request, provide the full name, date of birth, UDC number, Piute court case, and sentencing court. Ask for the existing legal-status field and the specific parole, expiration, termination, or discharge date. If a physical movement through Sevier matters, a separate Sevier record may document the jail departure or transfer. Each custodian should receive only the portion it likely keeps.

About Utah Inmate Placement
The program lets UDC use contracted beds in participating county jails. It does not turn a state prisoner into a county detainee. Sevier's current inmate search may help locate a person physically present there, but no result should override the UDC legal status. A county jail controls local operations, while UDC and the Board control the state sentence and parole path.
This split affects records. Sevier may maintain physical admission, movement, property, or departure entries for its building. UDC maintains the offender and sentence information. The Board publishes decisions that can grant parole, set a rehearing, order review, or rescind a date. One record alone may not capture the full transition.
Note: Physical placement identifies the bed; UDC legal status identifies the release system and the agency that controls the sentence.
Placement Program Release Day
UDC's Release Day guidance says state parole and release processing occurs on Tuesdays. Almost everyone processes through Utah State Correctional Facility. The instructions distinguish arrival guidance for people coming from USCF or Central Utah Correctional Facility from those housed in county jails. Those details apply to UDC prisoners, not to an ordinary Sevier county-jail sentence.
A person without a ride may be transported to a nearby UTA TRAX station and released later in the sequence. Someone paroling to a community correctional center is transported by UDC. These outcomes show why “released from Sevier” is too vague for a Placement Program prisoner. The first move may be to USCF, and the later event may be parole, another supervised placement, or sentence expiration.
Confirm plans close to the event. A scheduled date can change because of a later Board order, rescission, discipline, another hold, or processing needs.
Why Piute Has No Jail
Piute County's lack of a jail is the central facility-history fact. Official UDC jail-program material records zero Piute jail beds and says people sentenced to Piute jail terms are transported to Sevier County Jail. A much older Garfield County plan described emergency service for Piute, but that historical reference does not prove current routine placement or override the newer Sevier route.
This history makes custody labels especially important. A Piute arrest record can sit with the sheriff, a booking can sit with Sevier, and a state sentence can belong to UDC even while the person remains in a county bed. Ask which agency booked the person and whether UDC has legal custody. Old Panguitch references should prompt verification, not a current claim.
Placement Program Release Dates
Utah prison terms are generally indeterminate. The court sets a statutory range, while the Board controls parole subject to current law and the individual record. A tentative hearing month, guideline date, earned-time adjustment, parole date, and sentence expiration are distinct. Utah has no researched universal rule requiring every prisoner to serve a flat percentage.
Earned time under Utah law can affect the Board process for eligible completion of approved programs, but it is not a date calculator. The Board glossary describes an adjustment of up to four months, subject to eligibility, approval, forfeiture, contingencies, and a Board action. A granted date can also be rescinded before release. Always use the newest Board order and UDC record.
Does a Sevier roster change prove parole? No. It may show transport. A final Board order, UDC status, and the physical release event together answer the question.

UDC describes alerts for prison release, escape, return, death, a parole release date in advance, movement to a county jail, movement between Salt Lake and Gunnison sites, and transfer to a community correctional center. Register against the correctly matched UDC record and retain the PIN used to confirm telephone calls.
An alert remains a prompt to verify. The Utah Board warns that technical problems can make VINELink notices inaccurate or missing. A “moved to county jail” alert can describe placement within continued UDC custody, while a community correctional center is also a supervised placement. Read the event text, compare the newest Board order, and ask UDC to confirm the current legal status.
