ICE Detention System Release Search

To find someone released from the ICE detention system after a Piute County custody event, first confirm that ICE actually accepted the person. No ICE detention facility or agreement was verified in Piute County. A person who leaves Sevier County Jail for ICE has transferred into civil immigration custody, not entered the community. ICE's locator can cover current detainees and some recent releases from ICE custody, but it does not resolve a Utah criminal case, UDC supervision, or a federal prison sentence. The Sevier movement record and ICE status must be read together.

ICE Release Records for Piute

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations administers civil immigration detention. That system is separate from Piute criminal court, Sevier County Jail, UDC, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. No official Piute ICE detention facility, agreement, or routine detainer program was verified. Use ICE only when the jail identifies ICE as the receiving agency or an immigration matter is independently known.

The Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, includes current ICE detainees and people released from ICE custody within the past sixty days, subject to stated omissions and delays. A recent released result confirms an ICE custody change within that limited scope. It does not explain the Utah charge, dismiss a criminal case, or end UDC supervision.

ICE Locator Release Limits

ODLS omits some people. ICE says persons under eighteen do not appear. Safety, security, agency discretion, spelling, and processing delay can also affect a result. Its recent-release reach is limited. A blank search can therefore mean incorrect fields, an excluded person, processing lag, a release outside the window, or no ICE custody.

Do not turn that blank into a statement that the person is free. Start again with the Sevier movement record. If Sevier names ICE, use the ERO contact route. If it names UDC, USMS, BOP, or another county, ICE is the wrong system.

A-number
An immigration identifier used with country of birth in ODLS.
Detainer
A request for notice and a short additional hold so ICE may assume custody.
Transfer
A move from one custodian to another while custody continues.
Recent ICE release
A locator status limited by ICE's stated time window and exclusions.

Piute ICE Detainer Transfers

An ICE detainer asks a criminal custodian for notice before release and requests custody for up to an additional forty-eight hours so ICE may assume custody. If ICE takes the person, departure from Sevier is a transfer. If ICE does not assume custody within the permitted interval, the original custodian must process release under the governing criminal authority.

The jail record should identify the destination and timestamp. Ask Sevier whether the person was released to the community or transferred to ICE. Then use ODLS or ERO for the next status. A current Piute court order may explain why the criminal hold ended, but it does not establish what ICE did later.

Note: A detainer is not itself proof that ICE accepted custody; the jail's receiving-agency entry resolves the physical handoff.

ICE Detainee Information Contact

If no locator result appears, ICE directs inquiries to the proper Enforcement and Removal Operations field office or its Detention Reporting and Information Line. The published national contact is not a Piute ICE office, and no local ICE address was verified.

ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line

Have the A-number, full name, country of birth, date of birth, and the last known custodian ready. Do not send protected personal data to an unofficial source. An ERO inquiry can address immigration custody; it cannot rewrite a Piute criminal court record.

Ask a narrow question about current ICE custody or a recent ICE release. For the earlier Sevier handoff, contact the jail that made the transfer. That division keeps the custody timeline tied to the offices that created it.

After an ICE Release

Release from ICE detention may carry continuing reporting or check-in duties. ICE provides separate released-person address and check-in tools. An ODLS released result within its window confirms that ICE custody changed, but it does not establish that every immigration obligation ended.

Keep the criminal and immigration records separate. A Piute case can have its own disposition, fines, probation, or warrant status. UDC can have a separate state supervision record. A federal criminal sentence belongs to BOP and the federal court. ICE release resolves only the civil detention event shown by ICE.

When a precise release date matters, preserve the exact ODLS wording and contact ERO for verification. Pair that with Sevier's earlier transfer entry to create a reliable custody sequence.

Why Piute Has No ICE Facility

Piute's facility history begins with its lack of a county jail. Official UDC material reports no Piute jail beds and sends sentenced Piute jail cases to Sevier. A 1998 Garfield plan mentioned emergency service, but it does not establish a current ICE placement. No ICE detention center or agreement was found in the official Piute material reviewed.

That absence is narrower than saying ICE could never receive a person. An operational handoff can occur when the actual jail acts on a detainer. The correct evidence is the named receiving agency in the individual movement record, not a claim about a permanent local building.

Old Panguitch references, a missing Sevier roster entry, or an immigration rumor should all prompt the same question: which agency accepted custody?

ICE, BOP, and USMS Boundaries

ICE detention is civil immigration custody. BOP holds sentenced federal prisoners. USMS manages many federal defendants and movements before delivery to BOP. One person may pass between systems, but their locators are not interchangeable.

A person on a federal writ can leave Sevier without appearing in BOP at once. A person transferred to ICE may have no federal criminal conviction. A BOP released result can coexist with later ICE custody. Follow the receiving agency and chronology rather than assuming one no-result controls all federal status.

Does an ICE released result prove the Piute case ended? No. Check the Piute court docket and any UDC record separately. ICE reports only its own custody event.

Confirm an ICE Release

Reliable confirmation uses at least two agency records. Start with the jail's transfer entry to establish that ICE received the person. Then match the A-number or biographical result in ODLS. If the result is absent or unclear, use ERO or the information line. Keep the date, exact status wording, and agency name.

For a release outside the recent locator window, ask ICE for its current verification route. Do not reconstruct the event from news or a commercial listing. If travel, a filing date, or personal safety depends on the answer, confirm it directly with the responsible agency.

The final label should be exact. “Transferred to ICE,” “released from ICE custody,” and “released from Sevier to the community” describe three different events.

Build a Piute ICE Timeline

A complete timeline may require three custodians. Piute Sheriff can identify the arrest and initial transport. Sevier or another actual jail can provide the booking, criminal release, or transfer event. ICE controls its civil detention status and any later ICE release. The Piute court supplies the criminal order that authorized the local part of the case.

Request existing fields instead of asking an office to investigate. For the jail, seek the admission time, transfer time, authority, and receiving agency if maintained. For ICE, preserve the A-number and use its verification route. For the court, locate bail, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or another order. Align the dates without forcing one office to certify another agency's action.

This process also catches mistaken identity. Exact names, date of birth, A-number, Piute case number, and booking number can separate similar records. Avoid publishing more personal detail than needed to confirm the event.

ICE Release Search Delays

Processing lag can make a recent movement hard to see. The jail may already record transfer while ODLS has not yet updated. The reverse can occur when a copied jail list is stale. Call the record owner when the two systems conflict, and note the time of each check.

An old released result can also fall outside ICE's recent window. That does not erase the event. It means the public locator is no longer the complete path. Ask ERO how to verify the earlier custody change and keep the Piute and Sevier records as the front of the timeline.

Note: A time-sensitive ICE lookup should be repeated and confirmed because spelling, processing, and locator scope can all affect the visible result.
